Papaya trees

Papaya plant is really survivor. Last month, monkeys have broken all the leaves of the plants. I'm not sure why. I thought these both trees will die but they survived!

 The plants have put up so much leaves. The female papaya have branched out too. Anyone know if i should let it be or cut the branch?

Does papaya tree need male plant flower to produce fruit? I do not know the variety as it was sowed from market bought fruit.

The male and female tree is growing at same place.. I never seen any fruits yet. However so many flowers have been blooming.

Nangka

I was wondering in the garden last weekend when something urge me to see the nangka fruit. I press the fruit and it was soft. I try to smell and it has divine smell! The nangka is ripe!  Thank you Joyce from little potted garden and Bangchik and kak dah for their useful tips to ensure the fruit ripeness! 

I cut the fruit and bring it the inside. I smear my hand with oil and cut open them immediately. The fruit was sweet. My first harvest without any damage!

Starfruits

Starfruits are flowering profusely. The flowers are everywhere. However I just see few fruits on the tree.

Those fruits have few more weeks to become edible. I waiting to pluck them

Jambu tree flowers

This is my jambu tree. 

The jambu tree flowers have been blooming brightly. It look so beautiful in white. They  dangle down like little lantern. I admit that i fail to admire their beauty in the past! 

 The flowers is full bloom.

Another Jackfruit

The second jackfruit is getting huge! I still can't figure out if it's ripe or not.

Anyone have idea?

 I hope I can bring it inside to eat once fully ripen. I need to search on the tips since no smell from the fruit.

GBBD January 2016 & Pongal Wishes

This is the first GBBD for year 2016. 

Here it's really very hot. I need to water the plants everyday. Young vegetable seedlings require watering twice. It's a big surprise since the east coast of Malaysia is having Monsoon with flood everywhere and we in Kuala Lumpur facing summer! Geographically we are small country.

Nevertheless plants do love the sun! The flowering plants are having a show. 

My camera dropped down and something is not right with it. The photos look blur.

Hibiscus are everywhere in full bloom! Their parade in yellow and red!

Today is Pongal or Harvesting festival for Indians. Happy Pongal to all Indians who are celebrating Pongal! 

Jambu tree

 My jambu tree has started to produce fruits. Last months there was 9 fruits but all taken by the monkeys.

This time i saw a lot of small flowers. If all become fruits, it's enough to share with everyone I guess.

 I can imagine the red , bell shape fruits now. They are so sweet and juicy. Packed with Vitamin C.

The fruits are seldom seen nowadays in neighbourhood. I remember my hometown neighbour's tree. Once it start fruiting, it will be abundance. So abundance that it dropped down all over the place.

Will my jambu tree produce that much? let's wait and see the race!
