Cabbages are progressing to form head. It's really a long wait to harvest cabbage. Almost 6 months. With pest around it's really a tough job!

I wonder how the farmers manage cabbages! I never succeed to plant cabbages on the ground. Too many pest attack. In my garden, cabbages are meant to be planted in the pot....

Growing cabbage need a lot of patient. They grow very slowly. We need almost 6 months to harvest a cabbage head!

I find growing cabbage in the pot is better than on the ground. Less pest attack. OPPPSss......hope the pest don't read my post today!

This cabbages are at the back of the garden. No full sun here. Cabbage seems to grow happily at this place. I have 2 green cabbage and 1 Chinese cabbage. Hope they will grow well and form a head for me to harvest in few months time!

Last weekend I have harvested the last 2 cabbage heads! Snails are found everywhere and I was worried about my cabbages. So I decided to harvest them first before the snails!

It look like my garden is getting very empty now. The heavy and continuous rain is making almost impossible to plant any new vegetables at the moment. Some seedling have died due to soggy soil.

I will stop planting vegetables until end of this month. Anyway the cabbage harvest was really tasty! I mix with some capsicum ( from the market).

Cabbage - an update

Cabbages are beautiful leafy vegetables. They can serve as an ornamental plant too until the head is form.

Currently I have 3 cabbages in my vegetable bed. 2 are growing without any problem but one is showing indication like burn symptoms.....I do not know if I have throw some fertilizer towards the leaves or what but the whole green leaves shows burn sign....sigh......

I never had luck with first havest of cabbage this time. Monkeys tasted them. I chop the left over head of cabbage. Currently there are 3 head forming. I believe it will be a small one but it's ok to have it than never.

As tomatoes, cabbage taste so good fresh from garden! 

Broccoli have added a lot of leaves. It's time to harvest them too since it will bolt soon due to hot weather here. The leaves taste good when saute with garlic and ginger!

My cabbages in another bed! Three in a row. They look so congested. I mistaken the young seedling for Pak choy and planted them so near to each other.

The head are forming now! I wonder how big it would be...

Cabbages are forming head now. They look so juicy for the grasshopper that it never realized that I'm going to catch it after this snap!!

This is my second attempt. The head will be small since i planted them near to each other. Nevertheless I bet the taste is not impaired! I still can remember the fresh taste of my first cabbages. So juicy and crunchy!

This is my second time with cabbage. first time harvest was small but it tasted so good that i decided to plant it again. I never sow so many seeds as at that time i was busy. grasshoppers and caterpillars love to eat my cabbage so i have to somehow put all my eyes on them. So i decided for only 3 seeds. It was 100% germination.

One cabbage i transplanted in to the pot and 2 more on the ground. The one on the ground were planted so close with each other that they are now fighting for space now. When i first planted them on the ground, one of the seedling look not so healthy so i thought it might die half way. However, it strive well and space become a constraint. Let's see how this both cabbages grows.

My first attempt on cabbage! Inspired by Bangchik! It took almost 6months to get a small head. The size of the head is only about 4". Very small compare to market sold one!
