Papaya fruits agains

It's been quiet sometimes since the last harvest of papayas. The trees produce another batch of papayas and now they are a bit bigger.

This time I wrap all the big size fruits on the trees. This is in order to avoid any pest larvas. I'm not sure how but in the past I saw a lot of worms in the ripe fruits! I think I throw about 3 large size fruits!

Usually I pluck the unripe fruits when they show the first sign of ripening and ripen indoor. Nicely wrap in paper.  I wonder how the pest inject their larva into unripe hard fruits! So this time I'm taking extra precaution.

banana fruiting - another season

I'm getting very excited with banana tree! This plantain continue to produce little babies and they grow up to produce more bananas!

 This time around 2 trees have produced fruits! There is a gap of 3 weeks I think.... Therefore they won't ripe at the same time!

The banana flowers have been chopped and cooked. We need to chop the flowers so that the tree will concentrate the energy in producing plump fruits!

I hope they grow plump and sweet like the previous plant! Having banana tree at home is so useful!

Banana fruit progress

Banana tree fruit progress is very slow. I wonder how farmers wait to harvest their banana fruits! It's such a long wait! However a bite on the fruit might console all the wait!

The tree is so tall! I could not get the correct angle photos due to the height and the leaves bloacking with each others!

The fruits are small at the moment. It's green in colour. The flower at the bottom has been plucked and cooked! Usually we need to cut the flower so that the tree will put the energy on the fruit production!

Let me see if I could get better photos in a few weeks time when the fruit grow a bit bigger!

Jambu Air - another hit!

This is the 1st time Jambu air tree produce mass fruits!

The tree was full of fruits . I share them with neighbours, friends, relatives and animals like squirrels, ants and others. It was so abundance!

We had Jambu air for lunch and dinner. It taste sweet and juicy! 

Finally we could not finish it up. So I make 2 bottles of  jambu air cordial! My own invention!

Then jambu air pie....similar to apple pie! I should pattern the recipe and become rich! hahahhaa...

They taste so good in pie too!

Now the plant is back to only leaves! But the harvest will last long in my memories until it fruits again in future! ;)

Fruit harvest!

I manage to pluck some star fruits and jambu air last week. Jambu air went missing the moment I bring in the basket. I'm left with only 3 when these photos were taken. I just realise there is an orange in the basket. The Orange is of course from wet market ! haha...

The fruits are so juicy and refreshing to be eaten in this hot weather. Some of the fruits was attacked by fruit flies. The tree is so tall that i could not protect them. Anyway we still manage to taste some. The fruits was so sweet and free from pesticides!.

Starfruits & New year wishes

Starfruit flowering again! I do not know if starfruit is seasonal or flowering plant throughout the year plant! 

Little fruit start hanging once again on the tree!

I choose to pluck and ripe them in the basket near kitchen. I will add sugar or salt to eat them!

It's final week before year end. To all blogger friends Happy New Year 2016! Hope all of us have wonderful year ahead!

My garden resolution for 2016:

1) to plant more vegetables for cooking
2) maximise the garden area for vegetable gardening
3) Create good resting area in garden surrounded by hibiscus
4) minimize usage of pesticides - this is something hard as the hot weather combined with high humidity create good environment for the pest!

pokok jambu air merah

Jambu air merah also known as red rose apple in English. The fruit is rich in vitamins and called tonic for the brain.

My tree is almost 2 years old but I can't see any fruits yet. The plant grow so much that I trim them down last weekend. I add some fruiting fertilizer in hope to see some fruits!

The fruits are bell shaped, red in colour and cotton soft mesh like structure. They taste sweet. 

Cempedak and Nangka Tree

Cempedak and Jackfruit Trees are 2 fruit trees that I planted almost 2 years back. They were planted at the same time but grow at different speed. I love to eat both the fruits. They really have very rich taste!

The plant are still consider young but producing some fruits. The fruits drop off after little while. I'm not sure if it's suppose to produce mature fruits by now.

Mullberry fruits!

 

The mulberry plants are producing many fruits now! It's not enough for preparing juice but enough for my son to have it! At the moment many flowering plants have take over mulberry plant area! Soon I need to transfer them!

I guess this is the only fruit tree that has minimum attack by pest. Once in the while bird share it with us! We don't mind since they are not greedy enough to finish it off! ;)

 

Mulberries!

I had a sweet surprise yesterday when i went back home! It's been a while since i check the Mulberry plants. The last went i saw they were still small and mealy bug have their colony on them! Somehow once i chase away the pest, they start to bounce back. I never expect them to produce fruits!

 Out of 4 plants, 3 have started to produce fruits! The another one is still recuperating from the terrible pest attack! I hope it can recover! It's really suprising gift for me as it's very small plant!
