Fruit harvest!

I manage to pluck some star fruits and jambu air last week. Jambu air went missing the moment I bring in the basket. I'm left with only 3 when these photos were taken. I just realise there is an orange in the basket. The Orange is of course from wet market ! haha...

The fruits are so juicy and refreshing to be eaten in this hot weather. Some of the fruits was attacked by fruit flies. The tree is so tall that i could not protect them. Anyway we still manage to taste some. The fruits was so sweet and free from pesticides!.

As the name imply, the fruits in star shape!

Starfruits are flowering profusely. The flowers are everywhere. However I just see few fruits on the tree.

Those fruits have few more weeks to become edible. I waiting to pluck them

Starfruit flowering again! I do not know if starfruit is seasonal or flowering plant throughout the year plant!

I choose to pluck and ripe them in the basket near kitchen. I will add sugar or salt to eat them!

It's final week before year end. To all blogger friends Happy New Year 2016! Hope all of us have wonderful year ahead!

My garden resolution for 2016:

1) to plant more vegetables for cooking
2) maximise the garden area for vegetable gardening
3) Create good resting area in garden surrounded by hibiscus
4) minimize usage of pesticides - this is something hard as the hot weather combined with high humidity create good environment for the pest!

You have any resolution for 2016?

Starfruit do have beautiful flowers. The pink flowers must be very fragrance and sweet. I use to see many ants crawling to the flowers everyday!

 There are still few more fruits produced by the tree. I must thank the tree to provide abundance of fruits for us!

They are little in size. Nevertheless very juicy tart taste!

 This time, I plan to let it ripe on the tree! I want to see the taste comparison between ripen on tree and in kitchen basket. I heard there are different in taste.

This is the first year that belimbing or starfruit tree has produce mass fruits. 

There are many fruits hanging on the tree. I try to pluck some to ripe it in door. The taste was not sweet. Their size are not as big as the store bought fruit.

The size is small but many fruits are available for harvesting!

This fruit is full of vitamin C .

Starfruit tree have grown tall very much before I realize it!

There are many blooms on the tree but I'm not sure if all will produce fruits. I see a lot of ants on the flowering branches. I think the ants are pest at this point of time. Some fruits have appears and ants seems to be digging hole to the fruits.....I'm not so sure if my judgement is correct.

Nevertheless I manage to pluck some fruits to ripe indoor.

Star fruits are producing a lot of blooms now. They are all so pretty in pink colour. Little flowers which look promising to me.

I'm not sure how many of them will become fruits. The heavy rain always drench the delicate little flowers.

S for Starfruit!

Star fruit is producing a lot of fruits now! The flowers get drench by heavy rain but somehow succeed to produce sweet fruits! It's been ages since I ate them! Now I'm happy to harvest and taste them so fresh from the garden!

The fruit size is small. Not as big as the market bought size but I love the fresh taste!

Belimbing or star fruit tree was planted 2 years ago in my garden. I get the interest on this plant after looking at the big tree with so many fruits harvested at one of my blogger friend website (mypotted garden)

Previously the tree was sharing place with sugar cane. The growth was not so good. Due to space constrain I remove the sugar cane and planted at new area. Soon after I realize star fruit tree grow so healthily.

 

From middle of this year I saw many flowers on the tree. So far we have harvested few fruits. It has tart and sweet taste! some fruits was spoil due to pest. I'm not sure how to prevent this. Many worm or may be pest larva was inside.

Nevertheless the tree is growing well now!

It's been quite sometime since i check my star fruit tree. It has definitely grow taller and stronger. I know i have to wait few more years for the fruits but for now i shall enjoy the tree growth. So lush and green!

 I hope to have a edible garden where my kids and the grand kids can just walk around to pluck the fruits to eat. That's what i imagine when i planted few fruit trees in my garden. It reminds me of my hometown and my childhood memories!

Star fruit tree have grown taller. More branches and leaves. So far nothing have eaten the leaves. Hopefully not in the future too!

Starfruit is making way in my garden. I bought this starfruit tree from S.Buluh during my trip few weeks back.

I like to eat ripe starfruit which has sweet but not overwhelming taste. It's blended with tart and sour taste too! The unripe or green fruit is generally sour. I read somewhere that it takes 3-4 years to mature and set fruit. It's a long wait but worthwhile i guess!

The soil in my garden is clay type. I have add fertilizer and mulch to improve the soil. Hope little starfruit grows well!
