Pentas

The pink flower of Pentas really add colour to the garden. It's a butterfly host plant too!

Pentas is a genus from Rubiaceae family flowering plant. It's also known as star flower or star cluster flower! The name Pentas comes from greek name for five which refer to five lobes on the floral tube! My Pentas flower colour are in the vivid shade of pink but it's available in other colours too!!

Jasmine

A garden need attention! It's so true!

I was away for 3 days due to my work and my garden was left unattended! My hubby is not into gardening......Luckily there was rain!

Unfortunately the pest have take advantage of my absence!

Look at my Jasmine!!!!!!!!!! The leaves have turn black.... some pest have make a big mess......

It's not so bad but i have to open my eyes big now to hunt all the bugs!

Loropetalum

This plant is one of my favourite! It has red and green leaves with pink flower. Commonly known as Chinese Fringe Flower!

Very easy to grow plant who love the sun! When they are covered with flower, it's very beautiful sight to be hold!

Crossandra

 

I have 2 pots of Crossandra or Kanagambaram ( in Tamil) or firecracker. They were growing very well until the pest arrived! I don't know what are they but they are tiny white flying insect! they built nest under the leaves and retard the plant! 

Now my firecracker plant are on the road of recovery!

I'm just tired of the little pest! I can find them everywhere! I think in another few days I'm going to apply pesticide! I hate using it as pesticide kills the beneficial insect too but sometimes..... it's just too difficult!

Indians use the flowers to make garland of flower which will be offered to god!

Gardening a game!

I was invited by Bangchik , an excellent gardener from Putrajaya for a game called " gardening a game"! I'm suppose to list down 10 things i love to do! and then invite another 10 bloggers for the game!

Here are ten things which I love to do:

1) Gardening! I pick this interest from my mother who love gardening but she love flowering plants! I started gardening while i was 11yrs old! Among my 1st plants are Balsam, Cosmo and Portulaca! Long beans was my first vegetable!

2) I love to cook! I try to invent new recipes and sometimes end up with awful dishes ! hahhahaa....

3) Planting new plants! I use to explore new plants sometimes without knowing what's the species name.... often i blog and ask my fellow gardeners for the name and how to care for them! It's art of gardening? May be...

4) I love travelling but I'm not frequent traveller. I always make a point to go vacation to other country at least once a year! So far only neighboring countries! Western & Europe are far away from my budget!  I love to learn their culture, history and so on!

5) Doing Art including drawings and "Koolam" such as rangooli ( it's an Indian art on the floor) !

6) Spend time with my little son! I feel 24hrs is not enough while I'm with him! Children are gift from god which is so precious! They bright up our gloomy days with their laughter!

7) Decorating my house! I keep re-arranging furnitures at my home! I'm Interior designer in my dream!

8) Reading books and magazine ( but not celebrities regarding magazine)

9) Reading gardener's blog! That's my another inspiration in my gardening!

10) Baking is my another favorite now! I love to bake cakes as it take shorter time than biscuit!

Orange Hibiscus

My Orange Hibiscus is often attacked by mealy bug! They stay very low or may be i can say small because of the constant attack!

Yesterday evening i saw 2 beautiful bloom on the plant but i was busy to take photos! Today morning before left to work i thought of snapping the beauty but the bloom have closed...sigh..... Nevertheless i took the photos!

There is a bud still available! I hope i can take a snap of it before it closes!

Euphorbia Milii

My Euphorbia Milii have started to flower! Long enough of waiting!

Usually they bloom in a cluster of 6 flowers but sadly my red colour plant just have 2 bloom! Stingy enough.....

The yellow variety is generous enough i guess!

This plant can be grown indoor too!

Lemon

I would rather called this lemon plant as Caterpillar host plant! This Lemon is always hunted by voracious caterpillars! I just hate picking the caterpillars! They can eat all the leaves in 1 night! Therefore hunting for caterpillars and cutting the stem is normal routine for me.....

The lemon is flowering again! I hope to get more lemon !

I bought this plant from nursery earliar this year. Back then it was small plant with perhaps 6 - 10 leaves.
I use lemon juices in my cooking and also to do drinks - "Air limau nipis" or lemonade -  tasty drinks during hot weather. How about you?

Cucumber

                                                         My first attempt on cucumber!

I only see this type of flowers! Cucumber need pollination and it produce both male and female flower. But why mine have only male flowers? Hmm..... Anyone out there to advice?

Their soft tendril holding practically on everything!

Balsam Flowering!

My Balsam plants have started to flower! Just few days back i was standing in front of this plant and wondering when would it bloom! I guess Balsam have read my mind!

Basil

My only Basil plant has started flowering! I hope to see more babies from the seeds!

Petunia

Petunia alive again!

I find that Petunia is very hard to grow? do they?  I almost kill it! I don't know what went wrong....All of sudden it just wilted and slowly dry off....... Luckily i manage to save it at the end! Now it's growing and flowering back!

Tree

This is very slow growing tree! I almost can't see the growing stage!

Plumbago have started flowering again after a hair cut! Their delicate flowers look so beautiful in the midst of green leaves!

Lemon grass

2 together

Planted this lemon grass plant a month ago. Took 2 stalks and planted side by side. Amazingly it just grew without fuss! They are really easy to grow! So far no pest around them.

Lemon grass or Cymbopogon is a very useful plant. It can be used in coking, as pesticide, as preservative and even valued for medicine!
