Christmas Tree

I'm very poor in identifying the plants name or their origin. I call this plant Christmas Tree. We can see this tree along the road side. Huge and nice! At the moment it's growing in the pot.

The sharp leaves



Balsam

I planted Balsam for fun actually without knowing the medical benefit of the plant!

Balsam leaves can be used for ingrown nail treatment and nail infection. Usually ingrown nail and nail infection make the area swollen, red, and sometimes with discharge. Long time ago i read about this in Petunia blog. I never really bother to detail out until my son complain about his painful ingrown toe nail which make his toe swollen, red and painful.

Usually doctor will subscribe antibiotic if there are discharge but i made option B. I took few balsam leaves, mashed it and applied on his toe. Surprisingly the infection got better in 3 days. There are still little redness and swollen area but it's much better! The only side effect i found is the leaves colour your nail in Orange like "Inai"! Later i found out that some people do use this leaves for nail colouring besides "Inai leaf"!

Now i know what to do if my family get this nail problem!

Zinnia

The little seedling of Zinnia in my garden are growing steadily! These are seeds given by Kwee Peng from Onenezz! I do not know the colour but i mix it with yellow colour Zinnia! Let's see what are the colours!



The seedling look a bit burned due to fertilizer. I should be more careful next time!



Green Beans

I bought 2 packets of green beans seeds. There were only few seeds in it. I sow may be about 10 seeds and only 4 germinated. After a while 2 seedling died. I was left with 2 which i really take care of them like gold..... Somehow after sometimes one more died........What a sad ending to my 9 seeds!

This is another demanding plant that i have found out after Tomato. May be just for me.......

Anyway this single vines gave me bunch of green beans for my dinner yesterday! Just enough for 2 adults and 1 toddler.

Tumeric !

I don't remember of planting Tumeric rhizome before....... Did i ? or may be i throw some of the rhizome after my house warming ceremony a year ago and it grow so slowly from that day?

This area of garden receive full sun all the day long and i hardly water this area. Poor Tumeric plant! I should clean this place and provide water for it!

Turmeric have many benefit. It's called "Manjal" in Tamil . Turmeric is used as food additive ( E100), as colouring agent, Indian must have turmeric rhizome in their prayers function as well as wedding and currently in cosmetic industries.

I found some medical benefit of Turmeric from Wikipedia:

 In Ayurvedic practices, turmeric has many medicinal properties and many in South Asia use it as a readily available antiseptic for cuts, burns and bruises. It is also used as an antibacterial agent.

It is taken in some Asian countries as a dietary supplement, which allegedly helps with stomach problems and other ailments. It is popular as a tea in Okinawa, Japan. It's also used as an anti-inflammatory agent, and remedy for gastrointestinal discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome, and other digestive disorders. Turmeric is applied to a piece of burnt cloth, and placed over a wound to cleanse and stimulate recovery. Indians, in addition to its Ayurvedic properties, use turmeric in a wide variety of skin creams that are also exported to neighboring countries.

I use turmeric powder in my cooking from curry to sambal! How about you?

KangKung

I planted my kangkung from seeds. It's a long process of growing or may be I'm not so patient enough to wait?

I think it's due to water requirement too. This plant is semi aquatic plant which need a lot of water for fast growing!

This weekend i have a lot of work in the garden including providing space for my Kangkung!

Something have been munching the leaves since i was away on festive holiday back to hometown!

  

Curry plant

I have a small curry leaf plant. It's growing very slowly. I guess the baby plant is struggling to survive in between mint and chilies! I should trim my mint.

I'm a bit busy with Deepavali preparation. My plants are left alone to survive. I just do watering alone! Hope the weeds and pest don't do much trouble to them!
