Cili Padi....in abundance

I must admit that I do not know what to do with abundance of chilies ( cili padi) in the house. Neighbours have many too....can we dry them and make 'cili kering" ? I think many Malaysian aware of "cili kering" right?

Roselle

It's been long since I did Roselle juice. The main reason was that I never sow the seeds after the mother plant died. I was ignorant. Or may be I tried to be ignorant due to my busy schedule!

We start to buy cordial from the shelves! The taste of cordial can't beat the original taste and soon my house members start to complain......ghee......

I have no choice but to sow the seeds and wait for the fruits to appear! Finally after waiting for a month , the Roselle start to produce fruits.

Fresh fruits are ready for harvest and processed to be juice!

water spinach

Water spinach is growing strongly now. It's taking of the empty land left by the mother plant aggresively.

It takes long time to grow but once it has matured, they grow very fast!

If everything goes well, I will have a lot of kangkung to be harvested by next month on the continuous supply!

I think the frog must have beg for the rain!

It's raining everyday now after about a month plus of hot and scorching sun! Last Saturday, it rain the whole day! It was soaking wet and cold too! I don't really like cold environment though..... The only advantage of the continous rain was that I manage to fertilize all my plants! At least no effect of burn due to my careless fertilizing activities!

OK, get back to GBBD for the month of October! I have collection of Hibiscus in the garden now! It's not that I have special addiction to hibiscus, but I thought of creating borders between my vegetable patch and flower garden. The only plant which I can think of was Hibiscus since it grow big and have beautiful flowers too.

This is a part of the border that I mention. They are still growing soon will become a good border!

I don't have to trim this small tree! Every time it blooms with full of flowers, I can see a lot of caterpillars making way! They trim down the tree free of charge for me! hahhaa...

Similar to Tomatoes....Indian vegetable

This vegetables is very popular among the Indians. It's called "மந்தகாளி கீரை" or black nightshade in English. The young leaves and stem can be eaten. I have plant them with water spinach at the shade area of my garden.

Just saute them with ginger and garlic. You can add shredded coconut too. Another way is to add dhal and make a thick paste which is called "kuuthu" . This plant is full of nutritions. Besides, it's also full of antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. Raw leaves can be used in mouth ulcer treatment. It's been used for and to prevent stomach ulcer too!

I just started to plant this vegetable. From my experience this plant love a little shade since in my

previous attempt it died off after some stage due to hot sun. May someone can share on how to take care of this plant! ;)

It produce little tomatoes like fruits and off white flower, very much similar to tomatoes.

Tomatoes again!

It's been quiet sometimes since I planted Tomatoes....may be I should tell "it's been quiet sometimes since I succeeded planting tomatoes...... The reason is that, on my last attempt, all my plants wilted and after some time they died.

Finally I planted some new ones. I let them, grow so long in small pots and transfer them last weekend! I hope they will grow bigger and provide me handful of tomatoes! I put my fingers crossed!

It seems like tomatoes can't be planted on the same place twice..... is this true or it's just my imagination? Every time I plant them at the same place, they seems to wilt!

Any expert out there to advice?

Duranta Erecta

It's been almost 2 weeks plus I never update my blog! Life is just very busy here....... when I reach back home, it's already dark and I find pictures at night not so attractive! I was thinking of snapping photos on weekend and then again I was busy and totally forgotten all my plan. sigh.....

Finally yesterday I manage to snap few pictures under the sun! It's so warm here with little rain. The thermometer indicate 36 Dec C yesterday! I wish it will rain soon. Should I call the frog to sing to invite the rain? ;)

Anyway I would like to share with you all on Duranta Erecta plant! It's popularly known as Geisha or sweet memories plant!

I bought this plant from nursery early this year. It was growing so fast and become messy. I trim it down and I planted some of the stems in a pot! Surprisingly it bounce back! I realised it can be propagated by semi wood cuttings then.

If you have minimum time to tend the garden, try planting this shrub. You just need to place it under the sun, water them everyday and it will reward you with beautiful purple flowers! I read somewhere that "Beware of the leaves and berries  produced by this plant, it's toxic!"
