Picasso's Paint brush

Crotons are really beautiful foliage plants! They do have very colourful foliage. I have few type of Crotons in my garden. I like the Picasso's paint brush species the most! It has slender leaves with colour combination of yellow , red, orange and dark purple. It's very easy growing plant too!

Monsoon Season

Monsoon season have started obviously!. It's raining everyday. Some plants are enjoying the heavy rain but some do not like wet leg..... I have move the pots to car porch.

I do not know the name of this plant but during my childhood i use to pluck the fruit and eat. The fruits are red in colour and small. Birds love the ripe fruits. I haven't see any fruit on my plant as of now. I planted it as a border in my garden. I seldom water this plant but it's growing so lushly due to generous amount of rain!

Where is "petola" plant????

I planted this "petola" plant a month ago and have neglect it so much. The seedling was not so healthy but leave it to strive on it's own. Rainy season started that i totally ignored the plant.

yesterday i saw the plant in sorry state..... On top of unhealthy looking plant, caterpillar have chewed away most of the leaves...... i cut the whole plant with 50++ caterpillar and throw it away! I don't want the caterpillar to move to my other plants nearby for a good meal!

Indian Borage

I have a small Indian Borage plant in my garden. I just planted it 2 months ago. My neighbour gave a small uprooted baby plant. At first it sheds most of the leaves. I thought it won't survive but after sometime it grows back!

I remember when i was young and down with flu / cough , my mother use crush the leaves and give the juice. It taste a bit spicy. But the outcome is very fast. It relief us from flu/cough very fast. Better than tablet medicine and does not cause sleepiness / drowsiness in us.  In fact now she use to add the leaves to children's soup together with holy basil. She told that this can protect kids from getting flu or cough!

Dracaena Marginata Tricolour

Dracaena Marginata Tricolour is also known as rainbow tree. This plant is popular ornamantal shrub believed to be originated from Japan. Dracaena is air filtering plant.

I have a pot of this plant. Look at the leaf. It's colourful! It look sharp but actually it's very soft and does not cause any injury.

Yellow Gerbera

Rainy season have started again. Getting worst at time. Yesterday it was raining continuously from 3pm until late night......

My Yellow Gerbera have started flowering! Hope it can withstand the rainy season. Previously one of my orange gerbera died on me.....

I found some interesting findings in Wikipedia about Gerbera:

"Gerbera is a genus of ornamental plants from the sunflower family (Asteraceae). It was named in honour of the German naturalist Traugott Gerber, a friend of Carolus Linnaeus

It has approximately 30 species in the wild, extending to South America, Africa and tropical Asia. The first scientific description of a Gerbera was made by J.D. Hooker in Curtis's Botanical Magazine in 1889 when he described Gerbera jamesonii, a South African species also known as Transvaal daisy or Barberton Daisy.

Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours. The capitulum, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. The morphology of the flowers varies depending on their position in the capitulum. Finally....!





Finally i manage to take few shots of my Orange Hibiscus! Usually the flower will be fold up by the time i come back from work . On Wednesday i was on medical leave due to fever and flu. Somehow by evening i feel better , so i decided to tend the garden . Good to see the flower blooming radiantly!
